MRN Closure Gdynia and Gdansk — Direct Export via Polish Ports
Gdynia (PL GDY) and Gdansk (PL GDN) are Poland's main container ports. When goods are exported directly through Polish ports, the MRN closure is handled entirely within the Polish customs system (PUESC / AES PLUS). This is a "direct export" — the office of export and the office of exit are both in Poland, which should simplify the process. However, issues still arise.
Direct Export — How It Works
In a direct export scenario, the export declaration is filed in Poland (via PUESC), the goods leave through a Polish port (Gdynia or Gdansk), and the entire MRN closure happens within the Polish customs system — no cross-border customs communication is needed. The terminal confirms loading, the Polish customs office of exit confirms the departure, and CC599C/IE599 is generated.
Why MRN May Not Be Closed in Gdynia/Gdansk
- Terminal did not confirm loading in the customs system
- Data discrepancies between export declaration and actual shipment
- Container transhipped — goods routed to Gdynia/Gdansk but transhipped via another port
- PUESC system delays or technical issues
- Customs inspection holding up the MRN closure
